DALLAS – The National Society of Black Sports Professionals North Texas (BSPNTX) is hosting its inaugural BSPNTX Summit on Saturday, November 11 on the campus of the University of North Texas at Frisco.

The chapter’s first sports-centric conference is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Frisco Landing 130 Room on the UNT at Frisco campus. Registration (CLICK TO REGISTER) is $40 for current BSPNTX professional-level members, $75 for non-members and $25 for college students (members and non-members).

The Summit is slated to feature engaging sessions led by sports leaders providing insights on their career paths and experiences as well as networking opportunities with sports professionals with connections and influence in the top sports business city in the country.

"We are grateful for an amazing BSPNTX team and a committed partner like the University of North Texas Sport Entertainment Management program for helping us bring our concept of an educational conference to fruition," said BSPNTX Vice President Greer Christian. “We look forward to a day of networking and learning valuable insights on career development and the future of the sports industry from some of the best sports leaders in North Texas."

The Summit’s panels are built on BSPNTX’s core values to CONNECT, EMPOWER and ADVANCE Black sports professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, opening with breakfast with a welcome and opening comments before conducting two, one-hour morning sessions. A Lunch & Learn session anchors the midway portion of the schedule before ending with an afternoon session, closing comments and post-event networking opportunity.

"The University of North Texas is elated to host our friends at BSPNTX at Frisco Landing, our gorgeous new facility in Frisco. BSPNTX is a great partner and their members have been wonderful ambassadors for our Sport Entertainment Management programs," said UNT Professor and Director of Sport Entertainment Management Bob Heere. "BSPNTX is quickly becoming a critical part of our mission to connect our students with leaders in the sports industry, and as an institution with a majority-minority student population, the chapter’s members allow us to connect our students with role models they can relate with. We are excited to return the favor and offer a home for this great event."

BSPNTX is the fastest-growing organization for sports professionals in North Texas and one of the leading chapters in the Black Sports Professionals network. The chapter’s active membership has grown exponentially and reached an all-time high over the last 18 months and its collection of partnerships has blossomed to eight highlighted by relationships with major sports franchises and highly regarded entities, including the UNT Sport Entertainment Management program. The chapter has awarded $24,500 in scholarships the previous two years to 16 undergraduate and graduate students with North Texas ties and is targeting to eclipse its single-year total with its 2023-24 scholarships distribution.
